Each blend is created as an invitation to slow the body, steady the breath and return to rhythm. Not through excess but through restraint. At Modestine, ceremony lives in the details.
We work with small batches, honoring the integrity of each ingredient and the experience it creates.
Every choice is intentional. Every process considered.
Here, tea is approached as practice - shaped by care, repetition and time.
Laura's path has always been shaped by discipline, study, and a deep respect for systems of care.
Given her early years learning tea as medicine, Laura felt it necessary to deepen her understanding of the practice she inherited, not to replace it but to steward it responsibly. Alongside her academic pursuits, she went on to become a certified tea sommelier, studying under the guidance of a Buddhist Tea Master who was also a naturopathic doctor.
Her background in legal studies further sharpened her approach, reinforcing precision, ethics and structure, qualities that now inform the way ritual, wellness and tea are practiced and shared.
This convergence of lineage, formal study and disciplined inquiry continues to shape Laura's work today.
From this intersection of structure and soothing, Modestine® took shape — a tea house rooted in care, restraint, and precision, where tea is offered as a gentle return rather than an obligation.
Laura’s work remains guided by the belief that ritual is lived through practice — shaped quietly over time, revealed through consistency, and felt most deeply in moments of stillness.

When the pace of life began to override her own, Laura returned to her Caribbean roots, particularly, Grenadian practices that had already sustained her.
This return is not nostalgic. It was intentional
A continuation of Caribbean wellness traditions where bush tea has long served as a primary source of healing, now offered as a steady, modern ritual grounded in ancestral knowing. In honor of her rich lineage, Laura created two blends that have become Modestine's signature: Sip Grenada and Caribbean Creme. Both blends are rooted in the same bush tea traditions that she shared in daily ceremony with her grandmother, Modestine.
The work is shaped by what was witnessed long before it was named - from women who understood care as something practiced daily... through preparation, attention, and restraint. Ritual was not performed. It was lived.
Modestine®, the tea house, carries the name of the founder's grandmother not as symbolism, but as continuity. She moved through the world with precision and quiet authority, tending to others without spectacle and holding space through consistency rather than declaration.
That influence remains present in how the brand operates today - not as something explained or replicated, but as something upheld.
Ritual, for Modestine®, is not a moment to enter. It is a way of moving. One that honors time, respects pace, and leaves room for the body to respond.
