Happy Women’s Herstory Month, tea lovers! We are excited to bring you a series of conversations focused on some amazing women our founder, Laura, works in collaboration with for Modestine® Tea. Each maker anchors her brand in the beauty of connection, art, healing and community.
Our second chat is with Marielle, founder of Spiritualista Beautique whose beautiful candles bring such grounding energy to our Zen Tea Ritual Boxes. Born from personal experiences, Spiritualista Beautique is an extension of Marielle and her Love Letter to the Divine. This journey to self-love has been filled with many lessons, and she is honored to be able to share those experiences and products with her customers and community. Each product that Spiritualista Beautique creates, is a testament to the work that I have invested in myself and my Sisterhood.
What are your sources of inspiration for building Spiritualista Beautique as a community and brand?
I am most inspired by nature. Everything in nature serves a purpose and works in harmony with each other. My intention is to create a space that meets women where they're at and provide them with order, peace and harmony. Gifting women these principles has proven to be a transformative experience. In a world where we're expected to be available 24/7, I ask Black women to slow down and rest. When you're at peace, you take the time to listen, process and connect with others.
I don't need to reinvent the wheel, the Divine has given me the best blueprint. I also enjoy learning from my fellow Sisters..
There are so many women who inspire me daily. I love how we made the conscious decision to become our own saviors! We've taken responsibility for ourselves and our communities and there's power in that. With Spiritualista Beautique I get to share this power with others.
Now that I'm opening the doors to Spiritualista University in the summer, I am excited to be able to host events that allow us to sit at the feet of our Sisters. We don't have to do life alone, we don't have to rebuild our communities alone, we can journey together.
Your candle collections are a beautiful reflection of rooting our whole selves in intention. How do you hope folks consciousness is expanded by leaning into these affirming practice of stillness and meditation?
Thank you! I appreciate you saying that. As our offerings grow, I am working on creating rituals surrounding each candle. I feel like we live outside of ourselves in many ways. Often times that will look like overriding our own truth with thoughts, ideologies and attitudes that disrupt our nature.
I believe that it is essential to our wellbeing to distance ourselves from the daily noise by engaging in stillness and meditation. By encouraging Black women to rest and recharge, I hope that my words trigger something within that kickstarts the restoration process.
Queen / Self Love Ritual Box
Ritualized behaviors tend to bring comfort and a sense of order to our lives. Whether it’s practicing gentle yoga, mindfully sipping a cup of soothing tea, listening to music, running a relaxing bath, or snuggling up to your favorite book, engaging in these specific activities help us to make the transition to a gentle pause, while calling us home to ourselves, in very specific ways.
Ritual is a central part of your work. In what ways can we be intentional about creating healing & empowering rituals (feel free to drop any product recommendations).
It starts with making a decision. Don't leave things up to chance. Create rituals that provide clarity, freedom and order. Look at the ways in which Nature is true to herself. The lioness isn't any less fierce when she is mothering, trees instinctively know when to prepare for the winter season, and the bees continue to visit flowers and create honey, even while humans are making it harder for them.
Continue to invest in restorative practices that help you create new frequencies that help you show up with integrity and authenticity.
